Advanced Breakthrough
For students who are Green Belt (or Junior Black) and Higher.
Advanced Junior Breakthrough:Once students get their Green Belt or Junior Black Belt, they are considered to be an Advanced Junior Breakthrough student.Advanced students are required to test on more difficult material and subject to higher standards for both behavior and technique.
Curriculum Goals: Junior Breakthrough is a robust combination of character building, safety skills, personal development and fitness.Students get to exercise and develop the most physically and psychologically powerful version of themselves.Their confidence, discipline and respect increase as they gain the skills to be successful in the everyday and capable in crisis. There are four levels of curriculum at our school: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert.Expert level is practiced in the black belt class and the other three are practiced in Junior Breakthrough. While beginner level students may get to experiment with higher level materials in this class, they will only be responsible to test on beginner level materials. This constant exposure to all three levels facilitates learning the whole curriculum and puts the learning in a greater context.
Maximum Impact (IMAX):IMAX is the second level of our character curriculum. It is an extraordinary four year long journey to prepare students to think and act like a black belt.Your child will learn about communication, leadership, teamwork and success habits in ways that are not normally available to children.Students apply to join IMAX starting at Orange belt and completing all four years is a requirement for Black Belt so it is advised to join the program soon after achieving Orange Belt.In addition to learning leadership skills, there are exclusive benefits when you’re a member of the IMAX program such as a grey IMAX uniform, special events and performance classes.
Test Stripes and Belt Advancement:Testing for Advanced Junior Breakthrough students happens in March, July and November.During the March test, students test on a single form whereas on the other two tests, they learn both a Form and a Ground. There are six belts worth of material in Advanced Junior Breakthrough; three greens and three browns. Some students will learn this same material as they pass through the six degrees of Junior Black Belts but the process is the same.Students are eligible to advance if they have fulfilled both the physical and character requirements for their belt rank.Students will earn a Test Stripe for technical competence in that belts’ material.Advanced Junior Breakthrough students need a minimum of two character patches prior to receiving their test stripe.
Junior Black Belts: There are two paths to Black Belt. The path taken by students who start at a young age leads through the colored belts to Junior Black Belt.Students who enter the Junior Breakthrough class from the start (or early in their martial arts career) will go through the colored belts directly to Black Belt.It is easiest to understand these two paths by looking at the Path To Black Belt diagram located in the dojos. Both paths get to the same result but the Junior Black Belt path has a few more belts to break the material up more for our younger students.
Getting A Black Belt at Integrity Martial Arts:Once a student completes their three Green and three Brown Belts (or six Junior Black Belts), they will test for Red Belt.Red Belt is a time to focus on improving the technical ability of students to prepare them for the demands of the Black Belt Test. There is a whole process to select students at Red Belt to prepare them for and select them into the rigor of a Black Belt Testing Cycle.
Your Instructor
Being a parent is one of the most challenging, yet rewarding jobs you will ever have. It’s great to see your children grow and mature, but there probably have been moments when you’ve wished they’d been born with an instruction manual. Parents always second guess themselves: Am I doing the right things? Is my child going to grow up to be a good person? Am I providing the tools for my child to find success in this competitive world?
